Moroccan street food has a lot for vegetarians: harira can be made without meat, msemen, sfenj and chebakia are dough and honey, and zaalouk is aubergine. But the stalls also sell snails, kefta and sheep’s head, and a guide decides where you stop. So what counts is what the operator commits to.

Highlights

  • The only class on this site built around vegetarian and vegan cooking

About this tour

This is the vegetarian and vegan class from the same family kitchen as the chef Fatima class: starters, a tagine or couscous and a Moroccan dessert, all without meat.

Several reviewers in 2026 report that a regular class ran at the same time and that chicken was prepared in the same room; one group also cooked meat themselves. Ask when you book if your date is a vegetarian-only session. Reviews mention groups of up to around twenty. Transfers are not included.

Tours with diet limits

A Chef’s Tour is clear about it: not suitable for vegans, people with coeliac disease or food allergies. Marrakech Guided Experience and One Life Trips name no diet options at all, and One Life Trips includes snail broth or sheep’s head depending on the route. Flavors of Marrakesh offers alternatives for allergies if you tell them in advance but does not mention vegetarians. Ask before you book any of them.

Allergies and shared kitchens

“Catered for” is not the same as “free of traces”. A Chef’s Tour says plainly that cross-contamination at street stalls cannot be ruled out. KECHCOOK is not suitable for people with onion or garlic allergies. At the vegetarian class of chef Fatima, several reviewers describe a regular class running in the same kitchen at the same time, with chicken prepared next to the vegetarian dishes; one vegetarian guest had the meal cooked separately and was happy with it. Reiseführer Abdo lists nut allergies as catered for; the cooking class from the same operator is not suitable for people with food allergies.

How to ask

Write your diet into the booking notes and repeat it to the guide when you meet. Withlocals asks you to tell the host at the start; Urban Adventures and KECHCOOK want to know in advance. On a walk, saying it early lets the guide choose stalls before the group is standing in front of a meat grill. The dish guide explains what is in each of them. For group size and budget, see the food tour guide.

What guests say about these classes

Vegetarian guests praise a teacher who cooked their meal separately, others the welcome and the riad kitchen. One guest was surprised to find chicken on the menu of the vegetarian class.

“Very nice cooking class we were so suprised how good the instructor was :)! We are both vegetarian and the meal was prepared seperatly which was very nice. 10/10 would do it again!”
